Biography

I make violins and I like to think that somebody plays good music with my instruments... Art School introduced me to Art. It stimulated my creativity and taught me to search deeper into my abilities”.

I've learned this art from Maestro Otello Bignami who shared his passion for making violins with me. My meeting with Maestro Otello Bignami was extremely important in that he helped me find ways to reconcile my manual skills with my love for music.

Following the tradition of Bolognese violin making, I make my instruments entirely by hand using the classic "Bignami" pattern and a transparent and strongly textured spirit varnish

I was born in Pescara (Italy) in 1960. After finishing Art School, I moved to Bologna and enrolled in the Liuteria Artistica Bolognese (the Bolognese Lute- Making School) founded and directed by Otello Bignami. I worked under his supervision from 1979 to 1983. Later, to complete my training, I attended the restoration seminaries conducted by Prof. Helwig Friedman at the National Germanic Museum in Nuremberg (Germany). From 1983 to 1986, I was member of the Consorzio Liuteria Bolognese . I was a founding member of the "Gruppo Liuteria Bolognese” and was a part of it until March 2004.Through the years I have worked with many lute-makers and restorers in Bologna. It was there that my work and artistic experience grew and I developed my own individual artistic personality which has led me to master violin making. My two sons, Uilli and Filippo, also contributed to my growth both as an artist and a human being.

Many musicians in Italy and abroad are acquainted with the instruments I have made and unanimously recognize and appreciate their high technical and sound quality.

In 2003 she gave birth to the project “ Violino d’Autore” supported by the Architect Mauro Bellei
